In my opinion, the short irons and wedges are the most important part of the game (maybe equal to putting). This where you score. Most other clubs are about making sure you are in position or don't struggle for a par and get occassional birdie, but with the short irons, you need to have a high % of under par holes in order to play at the highest level.
